INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION & LADIES GROUP 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION 2026

What an unforgettable afternoon on 8 March as over 150 guests joined us at Chung Ku Restaurant to mark International Women’s Day and the 40th Anniversary of the See Yep Ladies Group.

We were honoured to welcome distinguished guests including Consul General Tang Rui, High Sheriff Billy Hui BEM DL and Consort Kerry Berrisford, Vice Consul General Qin Xiangdong, Daphne Amlot MBE, community leaders, partners, and friends old and new.

Our Chief Executive Ms Ming Wang reflected on the remarkable 40‑year journey of the Ladies Group since its founding in 1986, recognising the selfless contributions of predecessors and honourary members. Today, confident and capable women continue to strengthen our community and enrich society.

Guests enjoyed inspiring speeches, delicious Chinese cuisine, a beautiful 40th Anniversary cake gifted by Chairman Mr David Liu, and fantastic cultural performances from Pagoda Arts Centre, the See Yep Association, and the Friendship Dance Group.

The event ended with an exciting raffle and lots of happy faces — a true celebration of unity, culture, and women’s achievements.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION 2025

See Yep Association held its annual International Women’s Day celebration on Sunday, 2nd March at Chung Ku Restaurant. On the day, our VIP guests included the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Manchester Mr. Tang Rui, Lord Mayor of Liverpool Cllr. Richard Kemp CBE, Lady Mayoress Erica Kemp CBE , Daphne Amlot MBE, Leaders of the Chinese Community, representatives from Merseyside Police, partner organisations, old friends, and new friends. In total, there were more than 140 people attended the celebration. 
At the beginning of the event, Ms. Ming Wang, our Ladies Group Chief Executive, mentioned the establishment process of the Ladies Group of the Association. The See Yep Association was founded in 1906, and the Ladies Group was established and officially launched in 1986. It has been running for almost 40 years. See Yep Association is the first Chinese group in the UK to have receive the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Organisations back in 2016. Big thanks to the Chairman Mr. Ken Tam and to all the predecessors for their selfless dedication and hard work. Today, confident ladies have made significant contributions to their families and society and have made great achievements in various fields. 
Consul General Tang Rui highly praised the See Yep Association as a diverse and inclusive group, and said it was truly commendable that the association has been established for 119 years. He wishes the See Yep Association will continue to prosper and shine from generation to generation. 
In his speech, the Lord Mayor praised the traditional virtues of unity and perseverance of Chinese community in the UK. He praises the association as a vibrant, gender-equal group that is worthy of our respect, and wishes everyone a happy International Women’s Day. 
Mrs. Liu M.B.E praised See Yep Association for providing a great platform for us all to exchange and learn from each other. It promotes the development of Sino-UK cultural exchanges in Liverpool, and she hopes that See Yep Association will continue to thrive and to prosper. 
Our First Vice Chief Executive of the Ladies Group Mrs Anna Yu read out the sponsors’ names and thanked them for all their supports. 
Apart from the delicious gourmet Authentic Chinese food, we also had cultural performance from the Pagoda Arts Centre, See Yep Association, Irish Band, Viola, Soprano, singing and dancing. 
The final part was the lucky raffle draw. Everyone was happy and the celebration was a complete success! The event was coordinated by all the hardworking and amazing ladies of See Yep Association and the Pagoda Art Centre. We thank them all, and thank everyone who got involved to make this possible. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION 2023

See Yep Association held its annual International Women's Day celebration on Sunday, 5th March at Chung Ku Restaurant. On the day, our VIP guests included the Lord Mayor of Liverpool Cllr. Roy Gladden, Consul Liu and Consul Li of Consulate General of China in Manchester, Leaders of the Chinese Community, representatives from Merseyside Police, partner organisations, old friends, and new friends. In total, there were 110 people attended the celebration.

 

At the beginning of the event, Ms. Ming Wang, our Ladies Group Chief Executive presented her welcome speech to everyone. She mentioned the See Yep Association was established in 1906, and the Ladies Group was established and officially launched in 1986.  The Ladies Group is a very friendly, special and united group. Most of the ladies have full-time jobs, or full-time housewives, and full-time mothers, etc. All of them have very busy lives and responsibilities, but they have no reservation in contributing their precious time and money to the association and society.  Today, confident ladies make significant contributions to their families and society, achieving greatness in every field.

 

In his speech, the Lord Mayor praised the traditional virtues of unity and indomitable Chinese in Britain; praised the association for being a vibrant place that provides safety and warmth to the Chinese community; praised the modern women who are independent, strong, full of self-confidence, and have made remarkable contributions to the family and society, and he wished everyone a happy International Women's Day.

 

Mrs. Liu M.B.E praised See Yep Association for providing a great platform for us all to exchange and learn from each other.  It promotes the development of Sino-UK cultural exchanges in Liverpool, and she hopes that See Yep Association will continue to thrive and to prosper.

In total, there were 110 people attended the celebration.

At the beginning of the event, Ms. Ming Wang, our newly elected Chief Executive of the Ladies Group gave a welcome speech to everyone.  She mentioned the establishment process of the Ladies Group which was set up in 1986 and officially launched for more than 30 years. She thanked Chairman Mr. Ken Tam BEM BCAc, and the former Chief Executive of the Ladies Group, Mrs. Nancy Chan, for their selfless dedication.  Ming is the fourth Chief Executive of our Ladies Group since its establishment.  She is experienced, highly educated, and has leadership skills. We believe that under her leadership, our Ladies group will be vigorous and have more achievements.
