Association held its annual International Women's Day celebration on Sunday,
5th March at Chung Ku Restaurant. On the day, our VIP guests included the Lord
Mayor of Liverpool Cllr. Roy Gladden, Consul Liu and Consul Li of Consulate
General of China in Manchester, Leaders of the Chinese Community,
representatives from Merseyside Police, partner organisations, old friends, and
new friends. In total, there were 110 people attended the celebration.
At the beginning
of the event, Ms. Ming Wang, our Ladies Group Chief Executive presented her
welcome speech to everyone. She mentioned the See Yep Association was
established in 1906, and the Ladies Group was established and officially
launched in 1986. The Ladies Group is a very friendly, special and united
group. Most of the ladies have full-time jobs, or full-time housewives, and full-time
mothers, etc. All of them have very busy lives and responsibilities, but they
have no reservation in contributing their precious time and money to the
association and society. Today, confident ladies make significant
contributions to their families and society, achieving greatness in every
field.
In his speech, the
Lord Mayor praised the traditional virtues of unity and indomitable Chinese in
Britain; praised the association for being a vibrant place that provides safety
and warmth to the Chinese community; praised the modern women who are
independent, strong, full of self-confidence, and have made remarkable contributions
to the family and society, and he wished everyone a happy International Women's
Day.
Mrs. Liu M.B.E
praised See Yep Association for providing a great platform for us all to
exchange and learn from each other. It promotes the development of
Sino-UK cultural exchanges in Liverpool, and she hopes that See Yep Association
will continue to thrive and to prosper.
Our Vice Chief
Executive of the Ladies Group Mrs Lin Kwai Yan read out the sponsors names and
thanked them for all their supports.
Apart from the
delicious gourmet Authentic Chinese food, we also had cultural performance from
the Pagoda Arts Centre, Simon, Ivory, Molly, Elaine and John Wood, Mrs. Lui
etc.

Liverpool Cllr Mary Rasmussen, Mrs. Daphne Amlôt, Leaders of the Chinese Community, representatives
from Merseyside Police, partner organisations, old friends, and new friends. In
total, there were 110 people attended the celebration.
At the beginning of the event, Ms. Ming
Wang, our newly elected Chief Executive of the Ladies Group gave a welcome
speech to everyone. She mentioned the establishment process of the Ladies
Group which was set up in 1986 and officially launched for more than 30 years.
She thanked Chairman Mr. Ken Tam BEM BCAc, and the former Chief Executive of
the Ladies Group, Mrs. Nancy Chan, for their selfless dedication. Ming is
the fourth Chief Executive of our Ladies Group since its establishment.
She is experienced, highly educated, and has leadership skills. We
believe that under her leadership, our Ladies group will be vigorous and have
more achievements.
In her speech, the Lord Mayor of Liverpool praised

to their families and society, and have made great achievements in various
fields.

The final part was the lucky raffle draw,
everyone was happy and the celebration is a complete success!
The event was coordinated by all the
hardworking and amazing ladies of See Yep Association and the Pagoda Centre. We
thank them all, and thank everyone who got involved to make this possible,
thank you to all the sponsors and everyone's precious time.
On the 8th March, See Yep Association's Ladies Group has hosted the celebration of the International Women's Day at the Chung Ku Restaurant. The Lord Mayor Cllr Anna Rothery, Deputy Mayor of Liverpool & Cabinet member for culture, tourism & Events – Cllr Wendy Simon, Mandy Hamilton from the Merseyside Police and the leaders of the communities have joined the joyous occasion. There were in total about 100 guests attended the celebration.
The Chief Executive of the ladies group Mrs Nancy Chan has delivered a warm welcome speech to express her heart-felt thank you to everyone who have attended on the day.
The Lord Mayor has highly praised all the diligent ladies who have multitasking ability by keeping the family together, being a housewife and also helping to run a family business, yet still find time to do voluntary work for the association by both giving time and money to a good cause. She also praised the Chinese Community for bringing so much to the city and to the region including cultural and academic input and also business acumen which provides high boost to the local economy; plus highlighted Liverpool's Chinatown and Chinese Community playing an important role in the relation with China, especially the relationship with Shanghai.
Mrs. Liu (M.B.E) of Pagoda Art Centre has also given an inspiring speech and thanked See Yep Association's celebration event for providing a great platform and opportunity to the community to showcase their strengths and contribution to the society.
Deputy Chief Executive of the Ladies group Mrs. Yan has delivered a thank you speech to thank all the sponsors and community members' continuing support, contribution and generous donations to make the celebration event possible.
On the day, there were also excellent dance and singing performance from Pagoda Arts centre, See Yep members, and fabulous violin and mime Performance from local talented artists. The food provided by Chung Ku Restaurant was outstanding as always and the raffle draw prizes were second to none.
To organise this year's event was a very challenging one for the leaders and members of the association owing to the current fears of the Coronavirus, but thanks to all the support from everyone, it was as successful as always. Everyone enjoyed it and had a memorable day.
